This year is already turning out to be an interesting experience. Many of you know of the Call of Duty World at War server issues that have occurred recently. For those who have missed this situation, here is the rundown. Our public server for CODWAW was moving toward its end date and we had planned to keep it for an additional 3 months at a reduced player count of 16. Unfortunately, the only option of renewal was for another 6 months at 24 players. This issue was discussed among the Officers and with those who had donated funds toward the clan. It was decided to cancel our 24 player public server and get a refund.
That being said, there is another large issue with Call of Duty: World at War. |DOS| Crabb and I were looking into the status of our place in the TWL ladder, a problem was quickly found. Without warning, it appears that nearly all World at War ladders have been suspended. It appears that TWL wishes to support other new games, but not World at war. After coming to grips with this, we realized that for now TWL matches for Call of Duty will be suspended until 4v4 TDM or 4v4 CTF is restored.
Over the last year and a half the |DOS| Clan has had a close relationship with Call of Duty: World at War. Many members of the clan have the game and enjoy playing it. While many have grown an addiction with Killing Floor, I feel that it is important to maintain a foothold in Call of Duty. We have converted our TWL server into a private |DOS| server for the members to use at their leisure. This server will be used to have internal clan scrims. At the low cost the server is operating at, it is currently more of an asset then a hindrance to the future plans of the |DOS| clan. We will continue to support our current set of games into the next year or until all interest has decreased in them.
As the clan leader I try my best to look forward to new games and new ideas. We are currently in position for growth in members and further support of additional games. Over the next few months, I will do my best to ensure that the money that has been donated to the clan will not be used in a frivolous manner. We should all be on the lookout for the next great competitive game that the clan will support, will it be Bad Company 2, Red Orchestra: Heroes of Stalingrad, Medal of Honor, or the next entry in the Call of Duty series. Perhaps it will be more than one of these games or something entirely different. I look forward in your help in shaping the direction the Defenders of Stalingrad will continue to grow.
